Notes
A Bucks County country home gave Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike its scenic foundation at Stephens College. The design needed to feel comfortable, rooted, and full of inherited familiarity, with the porch acting as both an extension of the interior and a threshold to the outside world.
Traditional American detailing, warm wood tones, practical molding, and grounded proportions suggested generational stability. A garden bench made from scrap lumber added a handmade quality that supported the home's lived-in authenticity.
The design allowed intimate conversations and broader ensemble comedy to share the same world. The house held humor, nostalgia, and disappointment without becoming sentimental, giving the characters a place that felt safe and stuck at the same time.
