Returning to Stephens College as Assistant Professor of Scenic Design

Stephens College Columbia Hall

Stephens College — Columbia Hall

August 2021 — I’ve started a new role as Assistant Professor of Scenic Design at Stephens College. It feels meaningful to return to Columbia, MO — my hometown — and to Stephens, where I earned my undergraduate degree. Coming back during the pandemic is surreal, but also exciting as the program begins a new chapter.

Stephens College is launching a Conservatory for the Performing Arts next year, which will also mark the shift to a co-ed program. I’m looking forward to helping shape the future of Stephens College Theatre as this transition unfolds.

This fall I’ll be teaching:

  • THA 136: Intro to Theatre Design

  • THA 210: Theatre Graphics

  • THA 218: Introduction to Lighting

  • THA 318: Advanced Lighting Design

In addition to teaching, I’ve stepped in as Scenic Mentor on the first two productions of the season: The World Goes Round and Almost, Maine. Later this year, I’ll be designing the scenery for the premiere of a brand-new holiday musical, Smalletown Christmas.

It’s a full start to my time at Stephens, and I’m eager to contribute to a place that has meant so much to me since my undergrad days.
