Graduating from UCI in the Middle of a Pandemic

June 2020 — I’ve officially graduated with my MFA in Scenic Design from UC Irvine. It’s a weird time to be finishing school — everything feels uncertain with COVID, and the theatre world is on pause.

Some highlights:

  • I’ll be teaching Intro to Scenic Design online this fall as an Adjunct Lecturer.

  • Gretchen and I are moving to Chicago later this year. My hope is that when things start to open up, we’ll be in the right place at the right time.

  • With no summer theatre this year, I’m staying in Columbia, MO with my dad — the first summer I’ve spent here since undergrad.

Not the graduation I pictured, but it’s the start of a new chapter.
