The Foreigner Praised in The Tribune

The Foreigner — The Great American Melodrama

February 2017 — I designed the scenic environment for The Foreigner at The Great American Melodrama. The production was reviewed by The Tribune, which recognized the creative team’s work and gave a special nod to the set:

“The set is expertly designed by Brandon PT Davis …”
(The Tribune)

The challenge with this design was to balance the farcical comedy of the play with an environment that still felt lived-in and real. The set needed to support fast-paced physical humor while providing enough detail to ground the characters’ world. Seeing the review spotlight the scenic design as “expertly done” was a rewarding acknowledgment of that effort.
