ModelUSD
MacGet your 3D models ready for the next step.
ModelUSD helps prepare a downloaded 3D model before it enters the next project. Open the file, inspect its dimensions and orientation, and make useful corrections to scale, placement, materials, and textures. Export a USDZ at the quality you need while keeping the original file untouched.
Inside ModelUSD
Open. Check. Correct. Export.
Downloaded assets can arrive at the wrong scale or orientation, or carry more detail than the next step needs. Inspect the file first, make the necessary corrections, and choose the export quality that fits the project.

01 / ModelUSD
Check the model before you use it.
Inspect dimensions, orientation, objects, materials, and textures. Scale proportionally in familiar measurements and keep the original file untouched.

02 / ModelUSD
Bring the surfaces with you.
Inspect the textures included with a model, locate referenced image files, or attach replacements manually. Surface corrections are packaged with the exported USDZ.

03 / ModelUSD
Check it at a human scale.
Use the optional six-foot figure to judge furniture, props, and scenic elements in relation to a person. The figure is a visual guide and never exports with the model.

04 / ModelUSD
Export for the next step.
Choose the quality that fits the project. Your size, orientation, object, and texture corrections travel with the USDZ; the amount of geometry and texture detail still determines the final file size.

Inspect the model in 3D.
Rotate this sample to explore it. ModelUSD offers shaded, textured, solid, and wireframe views for checking your own files.
In practice
Ready for the next project.
Open the files you receive
Import USDZ, USD, GLB, glTF, FBX, and OBJ files. Export native SketchUp work to a supported interchange format first; ModelUSD works on a local copy and leaves the original source file unchanged.
Set a real-world size
Read width, height, and depth in feet and inches, inches, centimeters, millimeters, or meters. Enter a new value for a dimension to scale the model proportionally, and use the optional six-foot figure as a visual reference; the figure never exports.
Correct orientation and placement
Turn or flip the model along any axis, recenter its origin, and place it on the floor. The grid and optional XYZ guides help keep those corrections understandable in 3D space.
Inspect and simplify
Switch between shaded, textured, solid, and wireframe views. Review objects, meshes, vertices, triangles, materials, textures, and animation information, then remove unnecessary parts before exporting.
Restore missing surfaces
Review included textures and search for referenced image files. Attach replacement textures manually when needed; updated surfaces are packaged with the exported USDZ.
Choose an export for the next step
Use Original quality, Balanced, or Smallest according to the project’s needs. Scale, orientation, object, and texture changes travel with the USDZ; conversion alone does not guarantee a smaller file because geometry and texture resolution still matter.
Frequently asked questions.
Which model files can I open?
ModelUSD opens USDZ, USD, GLB, glTF, FBX, and OBJ files. Native SketchUp files should first be exported from SketchUp as FBX, OBJ, GLB, or another supported format.
Will converting to USDZ always reduce file size?
Converting to USDZ does not automatically make every model smaller. Geometry and texture resolution still matter, so ModelUSD offers Original, Balanced, and Smallest export choices.
Does ModelUSD change my original file?
Imported models are opened as local working copies. The original source file remains unchanged.
