Brandon PT Davis’s Repertory Scenic Design Praised in Summit Daily Review of Forum and Man of La Mancha

Scenic design by Brandon PT Davis for Forum and Man of La Mancha, praised in Summit Daily for its double-sided, rotating set solution.

Brandon PT Davis’s scenic design for Lake Dillon Theatre Company’s productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Man of La Mancha was spotlighted in Summit Daily News for its innovative, space-saving solution to a complex repertory season.

Both shows were staged at the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center’s CVA Flex Theater and shared the same cast in alternating performances. The scenic concept had to support two drastically different worlds—Ancient Rome and the Spanish Inquisition—on the same stage without downtime between shows.

Associate Artistic Director Melissa Livingston explained Davis’s solution in the article:

“Our stage designer, Brandon P.T. Davis, had come up with a really smart design in which the three houses for ‘Forum’ are on large casters and they actually turn around and come together and the whole backside is a different set for ‘Man of La Mancha.’”Summit Daily

This approach allowed for seamless scenic transitions and helped elevate the ambitious repertory format. It also honored the spirit of vaudevillian comedy and theatrical invention central to both productions.
