Brandon PT Davis’s Scenic Design Highlighted in UCI Humanities Feature on ¡Lotería: Game On! at SilCo

The University of California, Irvine’s School of Humanities spotlighted scenic designer Brandon PT Davis in a spring 2023 feature about ¡Lotería: Game On!, a bilingual children’s theatre production at Theatre SilCo in Silverthorne, Colorado. The production, part of SilCo’s VIVO initiative, aimed to support the local Latinx community through a story inspired by the traditional Mexican card game Lotería.

Davis’s scenic design, in collaboration with lighting designer Jesús López, helped transform the theatre space into a whimsical, magical world that reflected the show’s blend of fantasy, community, and cultural representation:

The production followed two siblings who enter a fantastical game world through a pillow fort. Davis’s abstract scenic environment shifted between the real and the imaginary, supporting the play’s themes of family, identity, and imagination.

¡Lotería: Game On! was directed by fellow UCI alum Sara Rodríguez and featured alumni performers and designers, making it a homecoming of sorts for many involved.
